Bethlehem Resident Assaulted EMT, Police Say

Gary Johnson, 50, allegedly punched and spit on EMT Brian Hart, when hart responded to a call at Manor Care.

A 50-year-old Bethlehem man reportedly punched and spit on an emergency medical technician on Sunday morning. He is being charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.

The charged man, Gary Johnshon, was sent to Lehigh County Jail with a $50,000 bail.

Brian Hart, the EMT, was responding to Manor Care on Westgate Drive, where Johnson is a resident. According to court records, Johnson threatened Hart, then spit in his face and punched him in the face and arms. Johnson’s attack did not stop until he was restrained.

Hart reportedly obtained bruises and swelling on the left side of his head.
