Woman Impersonated Doctor Office Employee to Get Drugs, Police Say

Woman pretended to be Valley Pain Specialists employee on phone to get prescriptions from Walgreens, police say.

A Bethlehem woman three timesΒ impersonated a doctor’s office employee to obtain a prescription for pain medicine from a city pharmacy, police said.

Kimberly A. Youngkin, 44, of 2841 Brandon Road, is facing two felony counts for the attempts in which she allegedly claimed to be an employee of Valley Pain Specialists calling in a prescription for herself to the Linden Street Walgreens, according to court papers.

Youngkin succeeded in fooling the Walgreens pharmacists on July 8, claiming to be a β€œTammy,” who works at the medical practice, police said. She picked up the fake prescription for the generic painkiller Norco on July 10.

But Youngkin then made two more similar attempts on Saturday and on Monday. But on those occasionsΒ the pharmacists were not fooled, calling the Bethlehem Police Department instead of filling the prescriptions, police said. There is no Tammy who works at that doctor’s office, an arrest affidavit said.

Police arrested Youngkin after they pulled her out of the drive-thru prescription pick-up lane at the Walgreens on Monday evening, the affidavit said.

She was later found to be in possession of the illegally obtained painkiller prescription and was driving her car while her license was under suspension, police said.

Youngkin was charged with two counts of acquiring a controlled substance by fraud or deception, a felony; possession of a controlled substance and driving under deception.

She was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Joseph Barner of Lower Nazareth Township and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $2,500 bail.
