New Funding Prompts Resurfacing Improvements in Washington

Pennsylvania's new transportation plan, Act 89, is making a $3.6 million project possible in Washington County.

Thanks to Act 89, the state’s new transportation plan, a long-awaited $3.6 million project will get underway Wednesday to improve U.S. 40 in Washington County.

Resurfacing and other improvements will be done along 10 miles of Route 40 from the intersection of Old National Pike to West Chestnut Street just past the intersection of Franklin Farms Road.

Drivers will need to be alert for lane restrictions along the roadway as work takes place. PennDOT will issue updates on this project as work progresses. Motorists are advised to be cautious when driving through work zones, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.

Lane Construction is the contractor on this project, which is expected to be completed by October 31.
