North Strabane to Expand Recreation Offerings, Seeks Volunteers
Anyone interested in helping with next year's Community Day's is invited to attend the first planning meeting slated for Thursday.

North Strabane Parks and Recreation Director Greg Sulc said the success of any venture depends on the people you surround yourself with.
And while he said his parks and recreation board has done an outstanding job in the first year of the new Municipal Park’s existence, more help is needed as the department expands its offerings in the coming year.
“As a director, you can’t do it all,” Sulc said.

That’s why he’s putting a call out to township residents to serve as volunteers in 2013.
“We will have a lot going on,” he said. “We are going to have more events than we’ve ever had in the township.”

And he was clear: He and the board aren’t looking for full-time help. They are looking for residents to volunteer to help with event-specific tasks.
It could be the annual Easter egg hunt. It could be the yearly event with Santa. It could be community days—which is scheduled for June 22.
Sulc said he and the board are looking for residents with a “creative mind” and who “enjoy living in the town and want to promote it.”
“The more volunteers you have, the better,” he said.
And he wanted to invite anyone interested to attend the first planning meeting for next year’s Community Days event, which is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday at the township building.
While no one is looking to reinvent the wheel, Sulc said, “it’s nice to polish that wheel” with new perspectives.
Those seeking more information are invited to stop into the township building to visit Sulc or email him at gsulc@northstrabanetwp.com.
