Veterans Day Ceremony Slated for Saturday

Canonsburg Mayor David H. Rhome invites everyone to attend.

Why attend a Veterans Day ceremony such as the one slated in Canonsburg Saturday?

Mayor David H. Rhome said it is pretty self-evident.

"Without the veterans we would not have what we have today," Rhome said. "We wouldn't have the freedoms we do."

A Veterans Day program will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in front of the Canonsburg Borough Building. Local residents who served in the Civil War and the Global War on Terror will be recognized with markers placed at the memorial.

Guest speakers include Ed Snarey, past VFW Post 191 commander,  U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Michael Busovicki, an Iraq War veteran and state Rep. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane.

Also participating will be members of VFW Posts 191 and 553, the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and Boy Scout Troop 1300.
