A Phillipsburg man entered his Easton girlfriend’s home and locked her out with her daughters inside with him, then refused to answer the door, according to court records.

Jason Kathcart, 33, of 241 S. Chamber St., was charged with criminal trespass and resisting arrest following the incident Friday night.

According to the arrest affidavit, Kathcart continued to refuse to open the door, even after police arrived at a little after 10 p.m. Instead, he retreated into other rooms and refused to answer several police announcements made from outside the building on S. 11th Street, police said.

Police ultimately did get inside the home and confronted Kathcart on the third floor, the affidavit said. However, Kathcart resisted arrest, running away inside the house and throwing himself onto the floor after he was handcuffed, police said.

After he was brought outside, he again tried to run while handcuffed and again threw himself on the ground, police said. He also struggled against being put inside the patrol vehicle, police said.

Kathcart was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Patricia Romig-Passaro of Bethlehem and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.
