International Political Scientist To Speak At Lafayette College

Kimberley Marten, Professor of Political Science at Barnard and deputy director of Columbia's Harriman Institute will speak on Oct. 16.

Kimberly Marten, the Olin Professor of Political Science at Barnard College and deputy director of Columbia University’s Harriman Institute will present “Is Another Cold War Inevitable? Observations on Vladimir Putin’s Foreign Policy,” 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16 in Colton Chapel at Lafayette College.

Her talk, sponsored by the Class of 1961 International Speaker Series, is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the lobby at Kirby Hall of Civil Rights.

Marten specializes in international relations and international security. Her research focuses on warlords and militias and their relationship to sovereign states and state security institutions, in places ranging from Afghanistan and Iraq to the former Soviet Union.

Marten’s talk is sponsored by the Department of Government and Law, the International Affairs Program, the Russian and East European Studies Program at Lafayette, and the Class of 1961 International Speaker Series.
