Emmaus Police Department is Hiring

The Borough is now accepting applications for two full-time police officers.

Emmaus Council gave the go-ahead to hire police officers this spring to replace two that resigned last year.

Until March 2010, Emmaus had 19 police officers, including Police Chief David Faust. One resigned from the department that month, the other in September. Faust wants to get back to full strength.

"We have not filled those positions yet," Faust wrote in an email. "We have two full-time vacancies."

Council President Lee Ann Gilbert has said that the borough's Civil Service Commission had a list of four potential police candidates to fill the two slots. But, she said, that was a two-year-old list, which expires this month.

As a result, the Emmaus Civil Service Commission is now seeking applicants to re-build the list of police officer candidates.
