Five Things to Know Today: Jan. 18
The weather will be miserable today, but there are still things to know.

1. Weather: Miserable, or, according to the National Weather Service, snow, freezing rain and sleet. A winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. The wind will be from the north between 10 mph and 13 mph. Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m. and sunset at 5:03 p.m, which gives us 1 minute and 38 seconds more daylight than yesterday.
2. UPDATE: What Will Happen to East Penn Schools? Due to the winter storm, the roundtable discussion scheduled for today with the East Penn School District superintendent and other administrators will be postponed to Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Emmaus Public Library. The forum was organized by a group of concerned citizens called East Penn Invested Citizens. The group is open to the public.
3. In Case You Missed It: Emmaus Firefighter Bob Schwoyer is looking for help finding is family dog, Tucker. He went missing Sunday, Jan. 16. If you have information, call 610-967-0348.

4. Coming Up: The Emmaus Public Library is planning to break ground for its new children’s wing in June, but it’s about $281,000 short of the needed funds. The fundraising drive is now underway. Read the story at 5:55 p.m. tomorrow.
5. Here’s an answer to Beth’s question from the Q&A: Does anyone know the status of the planned Thai restaurant in town? According to the Main Street Program, the new restaurant, Thai Thai House at 302 Main St. is supposed to open by Valentine’s Day. We’ll have a story about it for you soon.
