Man, 84, Hurt In Main Line Robbery Tuesday: Police

Lower Merion Township Police said an 84-year-old man was injured during a robbery incident in a Haverford bank parking lot Tuesday.

HAVERFORD, PA — An 84-year-old man was injured during a robbery in Haverford Tuesday, and authorities are now looking for the suspect, according to authorities.

Lower Merion Police said the incident occurred at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday at TD Bank, 401 W. Lancaster Ave., in the Haverford section of Lower Merion Township.

Officers were called to the area for a report of a strong-arm robbery, and at the bank they found an 84-year-old man being attended to by a witness.

Despite being disoriented, the man told police he was accosted by another man while walking through the parking lot.

The suspect tried to steal the man's keys and paperwork, which led to a struggle and the man falling to the ground, injuring his hand and head, police said. The victim was later taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The suspect then ran off through the parking lot toward Haverford College, according to police.

Authorities described the suspect as a black man in his late teens to early twenties with a thin build standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a black sweatshirt with gray piping, black jogger sweatpants, white socks, black low-top sneakers.

Investigators said the suspect was loitering in the bank parking lot before the robbery, and that no weapon was used in the incident.
