Delco Teen Fatally Shot On SEPTA Bus: Philadelphia Police

A 15-year-old Delaware County boy is dead after police said another teen fired a shot into a SEPTA bus in West Philadelphia Saturday.

UPPER DARBY, PA — A teenager from Delaware County was killed in a Saturday shooting in West Philadelphia.

The shooting happened at about 1:03 p.m. at 40th Street and Girard Avenue, police said.

Five to six teenagers were in the back of a SEPTA bus when they got into a fight, police said.

The driver stopped the bus, and one of the teens got off, according to police.

When the teen was getting off, police said he fired a gunshot into the bus, striking a 15-year-old boy in the chest.

Action News reports the teen was identified as Zahkir Whitfield, of Upper Darby.

Police took the boy to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:19 p.m.

Philadelphia Police are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this deadly shooting.
