Fraud, Thefts, More: Haverford Crime Blotter

Haverford Township Police said one instance of fraud led to a local man being scammed out of more than $31,000. See full details here.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between March 19 and March 25.

  • Fraud at the 400 block of Maryland Avenue on March 19 at 2:05 p.m. – The victim reported that he had been in contact with the venue where he was having his wedding via email. The victim wired $31,219 from his bank account to the account listed on the invoice that he received by email. Soon after he realized that the email address was spoofed, and the venue did not receive the payment.
  • Retail Theft at Wawa, 1000 block of Darby Road, on March 19 at 6:34 p.m. – An employee reported that a group of juveniles stole drinks and chips.
  • Identity Theft at the unit block of Hillcrest Avenue on March 22 at 5:56 p.m. – Victim reported that someone attempted to claim her daughters as dependents on their tax returns.
  • Fraud at the 700 block of Wynnewood Road on March 22 at 9:32 p.m. – Victim reported that someone gained access to her bank account and withdrew $600.
  • Fraud at the 200 block of Benedict Avenue on March 24 at 2:10 p.m. – Victim reported that $227.41 of unauthorized charges were made from her checking account.
  • Retail Theft at Acme, 600 block of Lancaster Avenue, on March 24 at 3:12 p.m. – An unknown male stole $97.00 worth of merchandise.
  • Retail Theft at Acme, 600 block of W. Lancaster Avenue, on March 25 at 12:42 p.m. – An unknown male stole $165 worth of NyQuil and Dayquil products.

Arrests

  • 46-year-old male, 400 block of Andrews Avenue, Glenolden. Charges: Retail theft, receiving stolen property and false identification to law enforcement. Location: Lowe’s, 100 block of W. Township Line Road. Date: March 20 at 7:29 p.m.
