Lottery Starts Next Week for Summer Class

Summer science class is offered at the Haverford Township Free Library

 

Registration begins on Wednesday for a lottery for a popular summer science class offered at Havertown and other Delaware County public libraries.

According to a posting on the Haverford Township Free Library website:

Registration for this year's Science in the Summer lottery will run May 1-31. Children entering grades 2-6 in the fall are eligble for the lottery. You must enter in person in the Children's Room. 

This year's program, Bioscience, will run Monday, June 24-Thursday, June 27, with Level I sessions at 10am or 2pm and Level II sessions at 11am or 3pm.

There are several levels of course offered at various times of the day and week.

The classes are sponsored by pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and The Franklin Institute.

This class description appears on the library website.

GSK's Science in the Summer program will teach Delaware County students about Bioscience, where they will explore the world of living things. Students will examine plant and animal cells using microscopes, dissect flowers and learn about bacteria.
