Women Stabbed in Haverford Home, Police Say

A 32-year-old Philadelphia man is facing attempted murder charges after an early morning attack Wednesday inside a house on West Langhorne Avenue in Haverford.

Police were called to the home in the 400 block of W. Langhorne just after 2:30 a.m. on a report of a burglary in progress. Haverford police say a Delaware County 9-1-1 dispatcher told the responding officer that a woman was locked in the basement bathroom of the house.  Police say she told a 9-1-1 operator that she "believed that her cousin had broken in the rear door and was possibly armed with a knife."

When police arrived at the house, a woman at the front door was screaming to officers that the intruder was in the kitchen, police say. Officers went into the house and found a man. Police say Daniel Franklin surrendered to officers in the kitchen.

Two Women Found Slashed in Basement

Two officers checked the house and police say they found two women, ages 63 and 34, in the basement with stab and slash wounds. The two women were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for medical treatment. Both live in the house and told police they were assaulted by Daniel Franklin.

According to police one of the women has a a permanent Protection From Abuse Order (PFA) order against Franklin. 

Police say the knife used in the assault was recovered in the kitchen sink.

Daniel Franklin, 32, of the 2100 block Orthodox Street, Philadelphia, is charged with Criminal Attempt Homicide, Possessing Instruments of Crime, Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Stalking, Burglary and Indirect Criminal Contempt – PFA Violation.
