Donald L. Smith, 85, of Bethlehem Township, died Oct. 15, 2012.

Donald L. Smith, 85, of Bethlehem Township passed on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Lois E. (Beltch) Smith. He was born in Bethlehem on Nov. 18, 1926 to the late William A. and Helen (Meyers) Smith. Donald served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving with the U.S.S. Gearing. He was a Research Technician at Homer Research Lab, Bethlehem Steel for more than 30 years until retiring. During his tenure, he was among the group that developed the Galvume Coatings. He was a member of the Dart Baseball League at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and Charter Vice President of the Freedom High School Booster Club.
Survivors:
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years; daughters: Kathy L. wife of James E. Cieslak of Bethlehem, Linda L. wife of Philip Fekula of Bethlehem; siblings: Richard of Nazareth, Audrey Braden of Wind Gap; grandchildren: Emily and Ellen Cieslak, Nathan and his wife Charlotte Fekula, Lindsay and her husband Patrick Shiner; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Liam and Lila Rose Fekula. He was predeceased by a sister: Dorothy Williams.

Service:
Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 7pm, Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 7pm. The interment will conclude services at 10am Friday at the Lower Saucon Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Robert C. Santucci will officiate the service.
