Irene S. (Smith) McKay, 88, of Lower Saucon Township, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.

Irene S. (Smith) McKay, 88, of Lower Saucon Township, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the widow of Robert G. McKay who died July 22, 2011. She was born in Springfield, Pa. on Jan. 14, 1924 to the late George H. and Augusta Victoria (Brandt) Smith. She and her late husband worked in partnership owning and operating the former Beckett's Catering for more than 40 years until retiring. She was a faithful member of , where she had served on its Consistory as an Elder. Irene was a Past Worthy Matron of the Saucon Valley Chapter 529, Hellertown, a charter member of Silver Creek Country Club, Hellertown, the Bethlehem Lioness Club, Meals on Wheels of Bethlehem, and a board member of Bethany Children's Home.

Survivors:

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Karen I. wife of Gordon Ward of Wasilla, Alaska, Linda A. wife of Edward Morris Jr. of Oviedo, Fla., Scott R. McKay and his wife Elizabeth Wolle of Lower Saucon Township; sister: Barbara Ann "Susie" Nicodemus of Brigantine, N.J.; grandchildren: Jennifer, Corey, Lindszy, Adam, William and James; great-grandchildren: Andrew "AJ," Eddie, Christian, Izabella "Izzy" and Gabryella "Gabby." She was predeceased by siblings: Augusta, George, Doris McHale and Kathryn Butcher.

Service:

Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8:30pm, Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc. 326 Main St., Hellertown and 10:30am until services at 11am Wednesday at First U.C.C., 501 Northampton St., Hellertown, with the Reverend Richard L. Teitsworth officiating. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com
