Part of Rt. 611 in Williams to Close Temporarily

PennDOT says the stretch of road will be closed from late April to late May for needed repairs.

A section of Route 611 in lower Northampton and upper Bucks counties will be temporarily closed so a failing slope wall along the road near the village of Raubsville, Williams Township, can be repaired, PennDOT announced April 11.

"The slope wall was damaged from , and has continued to deteriorate," Ronald J. Young of Engineering District 5 said in a press release.

"The project includes excavation work to repair two sections of slope wall (a concrete section north of Raubsville Road and an earth/stone section south of Raubsville Road), milling and paving, line painting and other miscellaneous construction," Young said.

"This section of PA 611 has an average daily traffic volume of 4,825 vehicles," he noted.

A detour around the area that will be affected--which includes the borough of Riegelsville--will take effect April 16.

"PA 611 will be closed and detoured to through traffic between PA 212 and Raubsville Road during the work on the earth/stone section," Young's press release said. "Starting Monday (April 16) and lasting through the end of the project, the posted detour will route traffic on PA 212, , Interstate 78, Morgan Hill Road, Old Philadelphia Road, St. John Street and Smith Avenue."

"Local access up to the work area will be maintained for residents and businesses; however no vehicles will be able to drive through the work area," it added.

The expected completion date for the $196,739 project is May 24.
