Coffeehouse, Band Storefront Stage Potential Ideas for 311 W. Main

311 W. Main Arts Consultant Laura Burnham met with three dozen artists, promoters and performers to discuss future uses for the arts center in Lansdale.

The blueprint for the revival of the former Lansdale performing arts center at 311 W. Main St. began Wednesday night when hired arts consultant Laura Burnham met with about 36 artists, promoters and the like to discuss how they may be able to lead and promote the vision and business plan of the center.

According to The Reporter, no specifics on future plans were revealed Wednesday. The meeting informed individuals of how their talents and genres could work together and network in the future.

  • The interior could house a coffeehouse
  • Performance space for bands and the like could be at the storefront at the Main Street entrance
  • Performance space could flow out to the street
  • A first-floor theater would be converted into a flexible box theater, below a 200-seat venue on the second floor. This venue would have a lobby overlooking Main Street.
  • The goal is to make the center self-sustaining for capital funds and operations.
  • The center would be available for more than 90 activities and events per week.

Businesses and organizations like Black Sheep Pottery, The Water Gallery, Theatre & Kids and Lansdale Montessori School offered to use the space for classes, permanent homes or performances, per the article.

More specifics on the 311 W. Main St. business plan and layout will be revealed Monday at 7 p.m. at Lansdale Parks and Recreation Building at Seventh Street and Lansdale Avenue.
