Five Things to Know: Laser Light Shows, Reptile Expo and More

Boy Scout Troop 62, based out of St. John's United Church of Christ in Lansdale, holds a pancake breakfast fundraiser at the church, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost is $10.

1. North Penn High School Planetarium holds musical laser light shows today. At 1 p.m., it’s “Legends of the Night Sky.” See pop music brought to life through an animated tale of constellations in the night sky. At 2:15 p.m., enjoy “Laser Beatles.” Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for students, and benefits the North Penn School District.

2. The Eastern Herpetological Expo (reptile show) takes place today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at BucksMont Indoor Sports Center, 2278 North Penn Road, Hatfield. Admission is $8 for adults and teens, $6 for youths six to 12, and children under six are free. There will be no venomous species or native Pennsylvania species at the event. Dale Mechalas, owner of The Archive Books and Collectibles, will be there with his alligator Alf.

4. Morgan Log House in Towamencin holds free open house tours and exhibit viewing from noon to 4 p.m. to celebrate its reopening for the 2013 season. Today’s open house features artist Ed Kane, whose specialties are drawings and paintings of local and regional historic sites. Kane will also demonstrate use of the quill pen.

5. Temple University Ambler holds its Second Annual Dance-a-thon, beginning at 6 p.m. at The Dance Place in Chalfont. The event will raise funds for Kisses for Kyle, a local charity that raises money for families with children battling cancer. Tickets are $5, and includes a raffle ticket.
