Five Things to Know Today: Earth Day, Stony Creek Cleanup and More
Happy Earth Day everyone!

1. Numerous events and activities are scheduled in North Penn School District to recognize Earth Day today.
- Elementary schools that are in the PowerSave program will receive energy-related books like “Saving Energy,” “Energy Makes Things Happen,” “Why Should I Save Energy?” and “Energy Island.”
- At North Penn High, students will watch a live NPTV broadcast during which the high school PowerSave club, known as Energy Troopers, will provide energy efficient tips for the program. Lights will be turned off in different areas of the school to show the impact on reducing the level of energy consumption.
2. Merck’s Preclinical Sciences LINK Community Outreach Team and West Point Discovery will volunteer today from 8:30 to 3 at Stony Creek Park in Lansdale as part of the Stony Creek Beautification Project. About 30 volunteers will weed, mulch and cut back ornamental grasses.
3. North Penn School District holds a Community Conversations with Superintendent Dr. Curt Dietrich at the Educational Services Center at 7 p.m.

4. Nicki Beekman, director of The Birches at Home Care, will be at Lansdale Library at 2 p.m. to discuss how laughing can make you healthier. Learn more today about psychoneuroimmunology.
5. Montgomery Township Supervisors meet in its scheduled action session at 8 p.m. at the township administration on Stump Road.
