Founders Day Sponsors Rolling In for August Event

The Lansdale Lifetime Achievement Award nominations will also open to the public on Wednesday.

"A Town in Motion" is moving along gracefully.

That is the theme for this year's Founders Day event in downtown Lansdale August 24 and sponsorships for the third annual event are coming in gradually.

"We got our very first two sponsors with checks in (April 30)'s mail," Councilwoman Mary Fuller announced at this month's parks and recreation committee meeting in Lansdale. Fuller is also chairwoman of nonprofit Discover Lansdale, which organizes Founders Day.

"We are off to a good start," she said. "The theme this year is 'A Town in Motion' and last year it was 'A Town on Track.'"

The first two major sponsors were Berk Wiper Converting and borough engineer Remington, Vernick and Beach.

Founders Day will also celebrate the founding of two entities: the 100th anniversary of PennSuburban Chamber of Commerce, which began as Lansdale Board of Trade, and the 85th anniversary of Lansdale Public Library.

"We have a lot of good things we are working on with that," Fuller said.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will return again this year. The inaugural recipient was Lansdale Fire Marshal Jay Daveler.

Fuller said nominations for the award will open to the general public on Wednesday.

"That will be advertised with the criteria of what the committee is looking for and how you can submit entries," she said. "Start thinking of it now."

Nominations will close on June 15.

Parks and Recreation Director Carl Saldutti said he has been in contact with Pyrotechnica for the fireworks contract for Founders Day.

Saldutti said he is also in contact with Penndale Middle School regarding spectator parking and gathering for the fireworks show.
