Lansdale Beer Fest Nominated for Event of the Year in Philly Mag

Lansdale Beer Fest began with beers with some neighbors on a front porch in the West Ward of Lansdale.

Today, it is a three-years-in regional fundraising event—returning for a fourth time this year on June 22 in downtown Lansdale. Tickets are $40 general admission and $75 VIP admission. You can buy them here.

Lansdale Beer Fest has made enough of a mark on southeastern Pennsylvania to be nominated as Event of the Year in Philly Beer Scene magazine.

"Three years ago, I was one of a few neighbors who decided to try to raise a little bit of money for some local charities, and started what was expected to be a modest beer tasting festival.  Fast forward three years, we are now proud to be one of the premier one-day beer events in the entire Delaware Valley," said co-organizer and Lansdale Area Fundraising Society board member Drew Stockmal.

Stockmal said this year's Beer Fest targets 5,000 in the field behind Madison Parking Lot along Richardson Avenue and West Third Street.

"Our humble town has big aspirations," Stockmal said of Lansdale. "After this year's event we anticipate that the total amount raised for charity will exceed $100,000."

Stockmal said the nomination validates the missions of Lansdale Beer Fest.

First, the fest is 100 percent for charity.

"Who can't get behind a great event when the end game is to raise money for deserving organizations," Stockmal said.  

He said Lansdale Beer Fest involves hundreds of volunteers and their talents to make it all a success.

"Winning would validate their efforts and hard work," Stockmal said.

The win would also validate the efforts of a grassroot community effort.

"In this age in which our local, state and federal governments are relied on so heavily to be the financiers for every societal need, we like to think that a small, grassroots group of community-minded individuals can make a difference," he said.

All this is going on, he said, in a wonderful, small town that is struggling to find its identity.

"There are good things happening in Lansdale," Stockmal said.

Stockmal urged supporters to also vote for Blue Dog Pub and Tavern and Prism Brewery, two local businesses also in the running in other categories.
