Lansdale Dems Chair: Strahm Not Loyal to Party

It is that time of the year again! Political season is upon us and some people will say anything to get your attention.

 As anyone who knows me knows, I am a Democrat, and I support Democrats for election. I have done this all of my life, and will probably continue to support Democrats for the rest of my life.

I have been an active Democrat in Lansdale for 28 years. I was a committee person for 21 years. I attended almost every committee meeting, and volunteered for voter registration, fundraising, lit drops, envelope stuffing, and any other duties expected of a committee person.

I would knock on doors for our candidates, and invite new people in my neighborhood to join the party. I have a plaque hanging on the wall in my office. It is the chairman’s award from 1991. I am very proud of that achievement, and strive to live up to that award everyday.

When I serve on council, I serve all the people. When my constituents call and ask for my help, I ask, "What can I do to help you?" I never ask them what political party they are registered with. That has nothing to do with borough business. I never speak with anyone in council chambers about political business. That is not the place for that.

Richard Strahm on the other hand claims he is a lifelong Democrat, and has Democratic values, but until two meetings ago I never saw him at a Democratic meeting. He showed up to announce he was running for council, and he wanted the support of the party.

I have to wonder where he has been all these years, and what support he has shown to the party? Oh that’s right, he doesn’t think party loyalty is important.

I have been reading his blogs for the past several weeks. My family and friends have become very upset with his constant attacks. I tell them he is someone with way too much time on his hands. He is a real estate agent, and he must be ignoring the needs of his clients to write a blog everyday for his own self-gratification. A lot of accusations, and name-calling, but one thing remains constant. If you disagree with him he will put you in his sights, and try to discredit and destroy you. In his mind, his is the only opinion that counts.

I was going to ignore his petty attacks, because I am far too busy working for my family, and serving my constituents to bother with him. That is until his attack on Bev Dodds. Bev is not a candidate in Lansdale, but she does have the right to an opinion. He didn’t like her saying, "He is crying sour grapes" and that he is "immature," when in reality, that is exactly what he is. 

If Richard Strahm does get elected to council, and you as the taxpaying public have a problem that he doesn’t think is worthy of his time, he will do the same to you. 

In his own words, is this the type of person you want on council? I don’t think so!
