Lansdale Founders Day Plans 'In Motion'
This year's theme for the third Founders Day event is 'A Town in Motion.' The excursion train will return this year.
Trains will return to Lansdale August 24 for the third annual Founders Day event.
The theme for 2013 fits in nicely with the borough's new branding initiative: A Town in Motion.
"We went from 'A Town on Track' to 'A Town in Motion'," said Councilwoman Mary Fuller during this week's parks and recreation committee session. Fuller chairs the parks committee in Lansdale, and chairs the nonprofit Discover Lansdale.

Fuller said the most popular attraction last year—the SEPTA New Hope & Ivyland Excursion Train—will be back, with a possible extension to the leg of the trip.
The round-trip train from Lansdale to Souderton is also on the schedule. Fuller said that train ride may have a change to it.

"If it does go to Souderton, a program to enhance last year, like a script and story of the stops along the way, will make that interesting," said Fuller.
Fuller made no mention of fireworks, but sponsors for the event and its activities continue to pile up.
Founders Day sponsor and nonprofit gorup Discover Lansdale, of which Fuller sits as chairwoman, has formed a Lifetime Achievement Award Committee.
Fuller said the Lifetime Achievement Award has been opened to the public for suggestions of recipients.
The committee is comprised of 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award winner and Lansdale Fire Marshal Jay Daveler, Chantilly Floral Boutique proprietor Marge Booz, Lansdale Historical Society President Dick Shearer, St. John's United Church of Christ Pastor Rev. Sue Bertolette, and WNPV President and General Manager Phil Hunt.
