Lansdale Parking Meters Return, Enforcement Begins Monday

New Lansdale parking meters have been installed on West Main Street and Madison Street. Meter pricing is split into two zones. Meters are free for first 15 minutes, and then $1 per hour, in the inner zone.

Free parking is over in downtown Lansdale.

Parking meters have returned to West Main Street and Madison Street—and pricing has been set for two zones or cores in the downtown, per recommendations from a recent parking study.

The inner core of Lansdale's downtown parking area gives drivers the first 15 minutes free, and then $1 per hour.

The inner core is considered West Main Street, the public lot at Main Street and Susquehanna Avenue, and Madison Street.

The outer core of Lansdale's parking does not have a first 15 minutes free special. However, the price per hour is 50 cents.

The outer core is the public lot on Walnut Street, and Main Street, between Wood Street and Richardson Avenue.

Metered parking in Madison Parking Lot remains the same, but will be adjusted in the future. The same goes for the public lot at Susquehanna and Derstine avenues.

Drivers have one last weekend of free parking, as enforcement begins Monday.

According to Lansdale communication coordinator Tracy Flynn, the new pricing encourages short-term parking and quicker turnover, creating more available parking in the downtown core.

Flynn said the borough has been advising customers of the new meters by disseminating flyers on cars and in stores for the past two weeks.
