Lansdale Police Department Honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month With Pink Ribbons On Cars

LANSDALE, PA — On top of the various insignias typical to police vehicles, squad cards in Lansdale will have a little addition this month.

The Lansdale Police Department announced that it would be displaying a pink ribbon on all if its patrol vehicles in October to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The department has also updated the profile pictures on both its Facebook page and Twitter account to an image of the police department's shield symbol but in all pink instead of the typical colors.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place each October as a way to raise awareness of the impact of the disease.

According to the American Cancer Society, death rates from breast cancer have actually declined 40 percent since 1989.

Early detection is key, and women are urged to see their doctors on a regular basis to ensure any cancer is caught early enough for proper treatment.
