Next Stop, Parenthood! SEPTA Cops Deliver Christmas Baby on Train
Healthy mom and baby were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital.

The two SEPTA Transit Police Officers were expecting a little chaos, working on Christmas Day. They were not expecting to deliver a baby on the Market-Frankford El train.
Sgt. Daniel Caban and Officer Darrell James were on the job Christmas Day when expectant mother Yanjin Li got on the train with her husband to head to Hahnemann University Hospital, 6ABC reported. But Li’s baby was in a hurry.
“Philly, my baby is coming!” Li reportedly yelled on the train as the intense contractions came. Fellow passengers helped her lie down just as the train pulled into the station at 15th and Market, The Daily News reported.

Caban and James rushed to her aid and found the baby was already crowning, The Daily News said. And in no time, the baby boy was born.
The baby was born with the umbilical cord around his neck, 6ABC said, but the officers quickly had him unwrapped.

“It’s just a good reminder, especially for the public, that it’s not always just the bad that you’re going to see us dealing with. We’re going to be there to help you. Get that sense of community policing back,” James told 6ABC.
Li, 27, and husband Binqing, 28, moved to Philadelphia from Fujian, China, about eight years ago, The Daily News said. They’ve named their son Kris, in honor of his Christmas birthday.
