Old North Penn: 309 Drive-In, April 1978

This week's photo from our past in the North Penn area is of the location where 309 Cinema and various other stores are now located.

Do you remember cruising to the drive-in off Route 309 in Montgomeryville for a hot date or a night out with friends?

Do you remember seeing "Gremlins," "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "E.T." or "Star Wars" for the first time? Can you imagine seeing lightsabers and Darth Vader on a big screen as you drive down 309?

This photo was posted by Jim Garrahan on the "Old Images of Montgomery County PA" Facebook page.

The drive-in screen is situated in the area where Whole Foods currently stands at the shopping center.

Now, 309 Cinema is the draw for that location.

Do you miss the drive-in? Where could they put one today?
