Penn Street, Ridge Street Parking Issues Evaluated
Lansdale Police Chief Robert McDyre said police are monitoring parking problems at both areas of the borough.

Lansdale Police Chief Robert McDyre updated the public safety committee last Wednesday on the current statuses of two parking issues in the borough.
A Penn Street resident who lives directly across from Penndale Middle School had complained of being parked in by school staff.
McDyre said the driveway is narrow, and not real well marked. When he visited the location, there were no parking violations.

McDyre said he would work with the homeowner on the issue.
“We will monitor it,” he said. “We will watch for violations. When there’s something like a Back to School Night, it’s dark and you don’t see it well at night.”

Nearly five blocks away, at Ridge and East Main streets, there was another parking congestion issue at the intersection.
McDyre said he reached out to the owners of Centennial Blueprint and Bob’s Auto Clinic for help, and everyone has been compliant.
“There’re less cars,” McDyre said.
Public Safety Committee Chairman Mike Sobel said he drove past that day, and everything looked better.
“Both sides looked like the cars were off the corner,” he said.
Councilwoman Mary Fuller said perhaps something else was to blame for the resolved parking issue.
“Maybe the gunshots scared some away,” she said, referencing the Easter Sunday shooting at Main and Ridge.
