Upper Gwynedd Police Plan For Socially Distant Community Meetup

In lieu of its usual National Night Out, Upper Gwynedd Police Department is hosting an outdoor community gathering in August.

UPPER GWYNEDD, PA — The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has put a damper on almost every event and gathering since March, and Upper Gwyendd Police's National Night Out event is no exception.

In a statement Tuesday, the department said it's moving its usual National Night Out activities to October. In the meantime, it's breaking from tradition to instead hold a socially-distanced, masked-up open house in August.

The open house will feature the presence of police officials and displays of police vehicles and equipment. It will be held at the Pavilion at Parkside Place on August 4 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Attendees are asked to join authorities in practicing social distance and wearing masks.

"We do not want to delay reconnecting with our residents," the department's statement read, in part.
