The lure of the first day of fishing season is too strong to resist for area fishermen, women and children.
Chad Slotter of Hellertown has camped out behind restaurant in East Texas the night before fishing season opens every year since he was a kid. This year was no exception as he introduced Cody Irwin, 6, to the tradition.
Though Cody was shy, he didn't mind showing off the six rainbow trout they caught Saturday morning.
"We plan a fish fry tomorrow," said his mom, Kate.

Dozens of anglers lined the banks of the Little Lehigh Creek this morning, relling in the first catch of the season.
According to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, approved trout waters in Lehigh County include Cedar Creek (Lake Muhlenberg outflow downstream to mouth), Coplay Creek, Jordan Creek, Kistler Creek, Laurel Run (South Branch Saucon Creek), Lehigh Canal ( from first lock upstream of Monocacy Creek Crossing), Little Lehigh Creek, Monocacy Creek, Ontelaunee Creek, Swabia Creek, Switzer Creek and Trout Creek (Big Trout Creek-Slatington).
