Coroner at Scene of Car Hit by Train in Alburtis
Incident happened shortly before 10 a.m.

12:15 p.m. UPDATE: The car was actually hit at the West Penn Avenue crossing in Alburtis and it took the train more than half a mile to stop just past the Smith Lane crossing in Lower Macungie, according to emergency personnel at the scene.
The Lehigh County coroner has been called to the scene of a car hit by a Norfolk Southern train in Alburtis. The incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. where the train tracks cross rural Smith Lane, a dirt road that cuts through an area of extensive farmland.
Alburtis police are investigating. Patch will report details as soon as they become available.
