Lower Macungie is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Lower Macungie has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Each year, the Macungie Farmers Market runs on Thursdays from May to October. With a variety of fresh produce, baked goods and crafts, it's the perfect spot to support local businesses and get a taste of the region’s agricultural heritage.
  • Down the road in the woods of Emmaus, you'll find the beautiful and serene Wildlands Conservancy. With miles of hiking trails and bird-watching opportunities, this little slice of nature is a must-see for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
  • Did you know that Lower Macungie houses one of the largest shopping centers in the Lehigh Valley? The Hamilton Crossings shopping center in Allentown features a wide variety of retailers, restaurants and entertainment options, including a rock-climbing gym.
  • Lower Macungie is also known for its vibrant arts scene. The Baum School of Art in Allentown offers classes and workshops in a variety of artistic disciplines, and the Allentown Art Museum features a diverse collection of artwork from around the world.
  • If you're a fan of outdoor recreation, you'll love Lower Macungie's scenic biking and hiking trails. The popular Ironton Rail Trail runs through the township and offers a picturesque route for cyclists and walkers alike.
  • Lower Macungie has a rich agricultural heritage and one of the best ways to experience it is by visiting one of the local farms. Nearby places like Willow Haven Farm in New Tripoli and Grim's Orchard in Breinigsville offer seasonal produce, farm-to-table meals and fun activities like pumpkin picking and hayrides.
  • The Lower Macungie area is home to several historical landmarks that offer a glimpse into the area's past. These include the Trexler Game Preserve in Schnecksville, which was once home to bison, elk and other exotic animals and the Dillingersville Union School and Church in Lower Milford Township, a restored one-room schoolhouse that dates back to the 19th century.

The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum in Allentown features exhibits and artifacts related to the area's industrial history and the Kutztown Folk Festival down the road in Kutztown celebrates the region's Pennsylvania Dutch heritage.
  • If you're a fan of golf, you'll love the two golf courses in the area, Shepherd Hills Golf Club and Brookside Country Club. Both courses offer challenging layouts and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
  • The township is also home to several excellent schools, including Lower Macungie Middle School, which has been recognized for its academic excellence and innovative teaching methods.
  • Finally, Lower Macungie is a fantastic place to enjoy the great outdoors. The township boasts several beautiful parks, including the Quarry Park, which features hiking trails and a picturesque quarry pond and the Lower Macungie Trail, which connects the township to Allentown.
