Why Go: A New York City fire truck that served as backup for units at the World Trade Center—“Ground Zero”—after 9/11 will be part of a commemoration ceremony and opening for the exhibit that will run through October.

2. The Lower Lehigh Lions Club Flea Market
When/Where: 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in Macungie Memorial Park.
Why Go: The twice-a-year event is a huge opportunity for fabulous finds.
Pricing: Depends on just how many fabulous finds you can carry.
When/Where: 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Woodstone Country Club, 3777 Dogwood Road, Danielsville.
Why Go: Rick Alviti & the Rick Alviti Showband “That’s the Way it Was” is an Elvis tribute band that puts on an interactive show. And the evening also includes a buffet dinner.
Pricing: Dinner and show tickets start at $45.
When/Where: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 9-10 at William Delong Park

Why Go: Because in addition to the chili pepper field excursion, there are also jalapeno and salsa eating contests.

When/Where: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 beginning at the Beethoven Waldheim Club, 1984 Waldheim Rd, Lower Saucon Township.
Why Go: Experts Robert Ensminger and Gregory Huber will present an overview of the barn highlights, and the self-guided and self-paced tour of local barns featuring homesteads spread among the rolling lands of the valley starts at 11:30 am.
