Get Out: Five Things to do This Weekend

This week we have suggestions for festing, taking in the classics, searching for bargains and treasures and doing a little fall cleaning!

1. Celtic Classic Festival

When/Where: Begins at 4 p.m. Sept. 23, and 9:30 a.m. Sept. 24-25 at various locations in and around downtown Bethlehem.

Why Go: Highland and Irish dancing, pipe bands, Highland games and a fiddle competition. And you can see plaid for miles.

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Allen Organ, 3370 Route 100, Macungie.

Why Go: The orchestra presents Virtuosi di Sinfonia, a concert of classical chamber music featuring its own talented string quartet: Mary Ogletree, violin; Rebecca Brown, violin; Agnes Maurer, viola; Deborah Davis, cello. 

Pricing: Tickets start at $20.

When/Where: Begins at 8 a.m. Sept. 25 at the Alburtis Community Center, 220 W 2nd St.

Why Go: Proceeds benefit the Nimrod Fish & Wildlife Association.

Pricing: Depends on what you find!

When/Where: 8 a.m. Sept. 24 at the Perkasie Fire Company, 419 S 5th St.

Why Go: Because you've been meaning to get rid of that stuff, right?

Pricing: Free for scrap, appliances with refrigerants will be accepted for a $30 donation to properly remove the potentially harmful chemical.

5. Renninger’s Antique & Collectors Extravaganza

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 24-25 at Renninger's Antiques in Kutztown.

Why Go: Hundreds of antiques dealers from all over the country have converged on this Kutztown event since 1975.

Pricing: Admission today is $15 and is good for all three days. On Friday, admission is $6 and on Sunday, $4.
