Harry Potter Goes Digital at Pottermore
Author JK Rowling will launch a site -- Pottermore.com -- in October that promises more material, more experiences, a place to exclusively download Harry Potter books digitally.

Harry Potter fans, hang on to your sorting hats.
Last week, author J.K. Rowling announced the launch of a new site, Pottermore, in October 2011. The site, which promises to add to the world of Harry Potter digitally, is somewhat of a mystery still. One thing is for certain, Pottermore will be the only place where you'll be able to download Harry Potter books to read digitally.
There are several guesses about what Pottermore (get it, PotterMORE?) will entail. Some of the information comes from J.K. Rowling herself, who has hinted at interactive worlds, artistic outlets and even the ability to help shape the world. "Just as I have contributed to the website, everyone else will be able to join in by submitting their own comments, drawings and other content in a safe and friendly environment – Pottermore has been designed as a place to share the stories with your friends as you journey through the site," said Rowling in a video statement on the front page of the site.

So far, it looks like the e-books will be available for purchase for all digital e-book readers. A spokesperson for in New York City confirmed that the books will be available on the Nook e-reader. "Yes, the Nook will be compatible with the Harry Potter digital books. But you will have to download them through the Pottermore website."
The full site launches in October 2011, and registration starts July 31 (that's Harry Potter's birthday for you Muggles) on the site. Until then, readers will just have to flip pages a little longer and dream.
