Lehigh County Commemorative Boasts Macungie on its Cover
That's the old Buchin's Hardware you see.

Lehigh County will celebrate its publication of Lehigh County, A Bicentennial Look Back at an American Community by Frank Whelan with a book launch party 5-7 p.m. today at Allentown Brew Works.
But look a little closer at the cover of the Bicentennial Book written to celebrate the county's 200th birthday: That's beautiful downtown Macungie on the cover...the old Buchin's Hardware to be exact. started there, too. Today occupies the second floor.
The county says the 300-page, four-color coffee table book will be officially available to the public for sale for the first time at the party. The book will retail for $45, but will be sold for a special bicentennial discount price of $25 from now through the Bicentennial Community Celebration on March 10.

Local historian and former Morning Call reporter Frank Whelan is the author. He will give a brief talk on the book and sign copies sold that evening, according to the county website which is another place you can buy the book, too.Â
Buyers may choose to pick the book up at the Lehigh County Government Center or have it shipped to them.
