Lower Mac Library Closed for 'Bug Issue'
It should reopen Wednesday or Friday at the latest, township manager says.

The Lower Macungie Library, which was closed Monday, continues to be closed today but should be open Wednesday, Bruce Fosselman, township manager said.
"It will reopen on Friday at the latest. It's a bug issue," he said, but it is not yet known what kind of bugs are involved.
Consequently, officials do not yet know if the library will have to be treated to get rid of them, Fosselman said.

Fosselman said he would disclose the details once the bug is identified.
What is known, however, is that library patrons need not fear for their safety or the safety of their children, Fosselman said.

The Lower Macungie Community Center, which operates under the same roof as the library, remains open.
Library patrons are being told that books due while the library is closed will not be assessed with overdue fines.
The library's Facebook page directs patrons to drop books in the bookdrop while the library is closed, but the bookdrop is taped shut and there is a sign there that tells would-be users they will not be assessed fines.
Township facilities are routinely examined by exterminators, Fosselman said, and harmful chemicals are never used.
"We will make sure nobody is in harm's way," Fosselman said.
