
Macungie's annual Relay for Life—the yearly love fest of hope, memories and fundraising— begins with opening ceremonies at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Macungie Memorial Park.
As always, walkers who have collected donations for the American Cancer Society will circle the park for the full 24-hour duration of the event.
This year's theme is a carnival, according to coordinator Cheryl Saul.

"We have live bands, clowns, magic show, a bounce house and an obstacle course, carnival games, crafts and lots of good food," she said.
The happy, sad, hopeful luminaria ceremony is at 9 p.m., and the closing ceremony is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday.
