Police were looking for a man who balked at his girlfriend's decision to open her Lower Macungie home to a homeless family.
Court records say Moises Flores Jr., 27, of Allentown threatened the family then kicked open a door that leads from the garage to the house after the girlfriend locked it. The action caused damage to the door and door frame.
The records say he then left in his girlfriend's car and had yet to return it.
State police at Fogelsville filed charges Sunday against Flores, of 17 E. Susquehanna St. He is accused of criminal mischief and unauthorized use of automobiles and other vehicles.
The charges were filed with on-duty District Judge Wayne Maura of Bethlehem.
A criminal complaint filed by Trooper Anthony Reppert said the following:
—Reppert was dispatched to the Pinewind Drive home in the Heritage Heights development around 9:30 Saturday night. The girlfriend said that earlier that day, she allowed a friend and his family to temporarily move into her basement. She said the family was "homeless and jobless."
—She told Flores about the family, and he said he did not want the family there. She pointed out to police her lease for the house applies to her and her children— not to Flores.
—Flores sent her text messages that if the man is there when Flores arrived, "be ready to call the cops." Flores also said "he will pay people to help with backup."
—The girlfriend said that when Flores arrived, he made "verbal threats" to the man and his family. When Flores went outside the garage, the girlfriend locked the door that leads from the garage to the house. Flores then kicked the door open, and left in her gray 2013 Hyundai Elantra sedan.
—While Reppert was at the house, Flores called his girlfriend's cell phone. The officer took the call, identified himself, and Flores also identified himself. Reppert told him that his girlfriend didn't want him to have her car, and if he did not return it he would be arrested.
—As of Sunday, Flores had not returned the car.
The complaint also says Flores is the subject of an active warrant out of Allentown.
