Data reflected preliminary findings: East Penn students exceeded statewide percentages in reading and math, but Macungie Elementary and Emmaus High schools fell short in Annual Yearly Progress goals.

The state Department of Education last week released the official results of the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment exams given in the 2010-2011 school year, and the data reflected preliminary information.
The results for the East Penn School District are here, and they held both good and bad news.

The bad news is that math scores at Emmaus High School and Macungie Elementary School fell short in the IEP-Special Education segment of the academic population which earned “warning” statuses for both schools.
That means the schools “fell short of the Adequate Yearly Progress – AYP – targets, but have another year to achieve them before any consequences are imposed,” according to the state’s standard definition.
