Chances are you know a veteran. There are more than 21.8 million of them in the United States, according to the 2010 Census.
Each year, on the fourth Monday in May, the country honors their service … please add your pictures, comments, stories and memories about your service, or about the veterans in your life.
About Memorial Day
Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868, by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.
