5 Things

Here are today's local happenings

1. The Honors Band embarks on its 4-day trip to Disney World. If you are reading this, my guess is you're not in Florida, so come on down to the high school gym for Beginner Italian class. Learn to speak the romantic language every Thursday from 7-8 p.m. Cost is $60. If you feel more in the active mood, spend your $60 on Zumba, a dance fitness program that is also held in the LMHS gym at 7 p.m.

2.The first annual will meet tonight to discuss How to Hug a Porcupine: Negotiating the Prickly Points of the Tween Years. The group gets back together to engage in discussion about the book written by Julie A. Ross that was introduced a month ago. The book tackles the unique developmental changes and needs of middle school students as well as strategies for addressing them, such as the "nagging cycle" and dealing with peer pressure.Β

The meeting will be co-facilitated by school counselors, Murray Avenue staff
members, and Ms. Jennifer Dilks, building principal. The event is free and open to all. To reserve a copy, please email Ms. Nyoka Toler, administrative assistant, at ntoler@lmtsd.org or call (215) 938-0230. Refreshments will be served.

3. will hold its monthly tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building. It is open to the public; the next scheduled meeting is April 28. Check our web site later for tonight's agenda.

4. The Lower Moreland boys varsity tennis team will play on the road against Devon Prep at 3:45 p.m.

5. Get ready for some more great college basketball action as the NCAA Tournament resumes tonight in the round of 16. Last week 64 teams required 4 TV networks, but now you'll only have to flip between 2 channels in CBS and TBS. San Diego State-UConn (7:15, CBS) and BYU-Florida (7:27. TBS) are the first two games and Duke-Arizona (9:45, CBS) and Wisconsin-Butler (9:57, TBS) will cap it off.
