Amon Avoids DUI Vehicular Homicide Charge, But Will Face Jail Time on Four Other Counts

A jury in Bucks County Court found Catherine Amon guilty of a non-DUI charge and involuntary manslaughter for the death of Huntingdon Valley resident Raymond Bloemker. She was found not guilty on a homicide by vehicle charge.

The jury from Bucks County Court did find Amon, of Southampton, guilty of non-DUI vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter of Bloemker, 40, after a car crash on New Year's Day around 6:30 a.m. in Northampton. She was also charged with four counts of drunk driving and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Icy roads and slick conditions played a part in the verdict, which Amon told to the jury earlier in the trial. Her blood-alcohol level was .11 when police breathalysed her at the scene.

The judge will determine the length of her sentence in the near future.

Amon admitted to drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana and consuming cocaine at a New Year’s Eve party hours before her car skidded out of control. Once she got to court, she told the jury the roads were slippery and there were snow banks on the side of the road to help prove her point.
