Arrest Warrants Issued In Montco Vehicle Theft After Fingerprints Identified

Police in Lower Moreland are looking for two men wanted in connection with a vehicle theft from the township back in May.

LOWER MORELAND, PA — Police in this eastern Montgomery County community are looking for two Philadelphia men in connection with a motor vehicle theft from last spring.

Lower Moreland Township Police said an arrest warrant has been issued for Ubaidullah Muhammad, 21, of Philadelphia, after the man's fingerprints came back during an analysis following the theft of an Audi from a township street back in May.

In August, Pennsylvania State Police reported that fingerprints lifted from the stolen Audi were identified as belonging to Muhammad and also a suspect identified as Abdul Rafi Muhsin, according to the Lower Moreland Township Police Department.

Police applied for, and were granted, arrest warrants for both individuals.

The department officially filed criminal charges against the defendants on Sept. 14, according to records from Magisterial District Court.

The criminal docket sheet in the cases show that police charged Muhammad and Muhsin, 20, also of Philadelphia, each with four felonies and a long list of misdemeanors.

The felony counts are theft by unlawful taking, conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

According to a department police report, officers were called out to a home on Hogeland Lane on May 29 at around 8:30 in the evening for a report of stolen Audi 33XX.

The victims claim they accidentally left the keys inside the unlocked vehicle and that sometime over night the vehicle was entered, ransacked and that the car was subsequently stolen.

During that same timeframe, police said, five other vehicles had been entered in the same neighborhood.

Philadelphia Police ended up recovering the stolen Audi about two-and-a-half hours later that same night on North Dover Street in the city.

Both men, who remain on the loose and have not yet been arraigned, have yet to be scheduled for preliminary hearings.

Records show that criminal complaints have been filed in Magisterial District Court by Lower Moreland Detective Morgan Caltabiano.
