LOWER MORELAND, PA β€” Police investigators in this eastern Montgomery County community say they are looking for a person or persons who broke into a local home and stole valuables.

The Lower Moreland Township Police Department said the residential burglary occurred during the overnight hours of July 22 into July 23.

The suspect or suspects reportedly gained entry into the second-floor condominium by breaking into a sliding glass door on the balcony.

Police said that the thief or thieves first tried to pry the door open in multiple areas before resorting to instead shattering the glass door to get inside the residence.

Once inside, the burglar or burglars used two large pieces of furniture to barricade the main door of the condo from the inside, "presumably to allow them warning and extra time to exit if someone came home," the police department stated in a release.

And in a rather unsettling detail, police say it appears that the suspect or suspects may have even slept in two kids' beds inside the home, as the owner said the beds appeared to be unmade and different from the way they were left before the burglary took place.

The only items stolen from the home were jewelry, but police did not say what type of jewelry or give an estimated value of the stolen goods.

Electronics that were left in plain view inside the home were left untouched, police said.
