Construction on $9.5M Project to Resurface Highway Set to Begin

On July 16, a stretch of 37 miles of highway in Montgomery County will start to be resurfaced. Residents are advised to allow extra traveling time.

The following information was supplied by PennDOT:

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) todayannounced that construction is scheduled to begin Sunday night, July 17 on a $9.5 million project resurface 37 miles of state highway in Montgomery County.  The project is scheduled to be completed in October 2012.

The additional state highways to resurfaced under this project are:

  • Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) between Philmont Avenue/Welsh Road and County Line Road in Lower Moreland Township and Bryn Athyn Borough

  • Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) Jug Handles between Welsh Road and Moreland Road in Abington and Lower Moreland townships

In addition, new ADA curbs ramps will be built along the following state roads:

  • Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) between Route 63 (Welsh Road) and County Line Road in Lower Moreland and Upper Southampton townships, and Bryn Athyn Borough

  • Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) Jug Handles between Route 63 (Welsh Road) and Moreland Road in Lower Moreland Township

- Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $9,508,028 project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.
