DUI Charges Against Montco Man Who Reportedly Struck Utility Pole

LOWER MORELAND, PA — A 21-year-old Huntingdon Valley man who has DUI charges pending against him in his home community has now been charged with driving under the influence in another Montgomery County town.

Sean Dever, of the 1200 block of Laurel Lane, was recently arrested by Upper Gwynedd Township Police and charged with driving under the influence, according to court records and media reports.

In the Upper Gwynedd case, Dever was also charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, along with related charges.

The website NorthPennNow reported that the Upper Gwynedd arrest stemmed from a late June incident during which Dever was allegedly speeding when he struck a utility pole and then attempted to escape from officers when they attempted to make contact with him.

The court docket in the case shows that Dever had originally been scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 11, but that the proceeding has been pushed back to late September.

Records show that Dever remains free after posting unsecured bail.

A search of Pennsylvania state court records shows that Dever is facing similar charges in other jurisdictions.

One arrest sheet shows that Dever was charged in January of this year by Lower Moreland Township Police with three misdemeanor DUI counts.

The charges were waived for Common Pleas Court after a hearing.

And Dever is facing additional charges in Lower Moreland stemming from an arrest this spring, during which he was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and other counts.

The charges in that case have also been waived for Common Pleas Court.

In the most recent incident in Upper Gwynedd, NorthPennNow reported that Dever reportedly told police that he was a "great driver" at the time he was taken into police custody.

The website cited a police criminal complaint for the details on Dever's alleged statements to police.
