Going Green on the Greens

The Huntingdon Valley Country Club will host an event to help benefit abused and neglected children in the 6th Annual Child Advocates Golf Classic on Monday, Oct. 3.

Philadelphia area law and corporate leaders such as Comcast, Independence Blue Cross, TD Bank, Duane Morris, Fox Rothschild, and Ernst & Young join Support Center for Child Advocates, the country's oldest and largest pro bono legal and social services agency for abused and neglected children, to Go 'Green' on the Greens, at the 6th Annual Child Advocates Golf Classic on Monday, Oct. 3 at the

Event partner Cleantech Alliance Mid-Atlantic (CAMA) will present a pre-golf morning program on Green Building and Environmental Responsibility that will explore design, regulatory, legal and investment facets of sustainable development and water/stormwater management.

All proceeds from the event will support Child Advocates' Project for Medically Needy Children.Β  The Project teams staff social workers with specially trained volunteer lawyers to secure necessary medical treatment, special education, rehabilitation services, and whenever possible permanent nurturing homes for cases involving children with serious and/or chronic medical needs.

The CAMA Green Building & Environmental Responsibility program will be chaired by Kathleen McGinty, Senior Vice-President and Managing Director at Weston Solutions, Inc., and former Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection .Β  The two part program is eligible for 2.5 Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education credits and will include local experts in green building and water management on two distinct panels: Evolving Green Building and Development Standards and Evolving Water and Stormwater Management Best Practices.

Β "Our medically needy cases are more complex, remain open longer, and require more agency resources than typical cases," says Frank Cervone, Child Advocates' Executive Director and a nationally recognized child abuse legal expert.Β Β  "The Philadelphia corporate and legal communities have been critical in generating funds, awareness and changing the story for many of our areas most vulnerable children."
