High School Students Can Earn Cash in Essay Writing Contest

American Legion is holding an oratirical contest for students in grades 9-12. This year's topic is: Should America's Presidential Electoral Process be Changed?

Calling all high school students!

Do you like to write? Do you enjoy public speaking? Do you need money for college? If you are in grades 9-12, Public, Private, or Home School, the American Legion has programs that can help. Β 

The Essay Contest consists of an essay between 500 and 1000 words. The topic this year is β€œShould America’s Presidential Electoral Process be Changed?” The Statewide winner will receive $3,500.00. Local winners will also receive an award.

The Oratorical contest will consist of two parts.Β  An 8-10 minute, memorized oration will be given on some phase of the United States Constitution.Β  The second part is a 3-5 minute extemporary oration on one of four β€œassigned topics” assigned by the National Headquarters.Β  The Statewide winner of this contest will receive $7,500.00.Β  Local winners will also be awarded.
